Overview
The World of Lexica is a series of role playing games with an eye towards education. Throughout the game, players will encounter an variety of characters pulled directly from a variety of books (ie: The Cheshire Cat, Maid marian, John Henry, etc). As the game progresses, players learn about each of these character and the books they originate from. Interested players can even find the full books located on book shelves scattered throughout the world.The World of Lexica: Unbound (Year 1)
Role: Technical DirectorDuration: 2.5 Years
Responsibilities
- Was in charge of managing ~10 engineers during the course of the project.
- Worked closely with the teams producer, project director and the other team directors to layout an agile style schedule for the project.
- Built the core framework that became the foundation of the game.
- Responsible for creating the build process and setting up automated build servers (Cruise Control .NET).
- Interviewed and hired a full time build engineer to take over managing the build server infrastructure.
- Wrote Android Java plugins to simulate student account API's that were being developd by the customer. I worked closely with them to help define the requirements of the API's that would later replace my mock code.
- Involved in porting the game from Android to iOS.
- Participated in weekly review meetings and provided constructive feedback about content and game systems actively in development.
The World of Lexica: The Seeker (Year 2)
Role: Game EngineerDuration: 10 Months
Responsibilities
- Aided in the design of the 'hub and spoke' model that was used as the basis for the main questline in the year 2 product.
- Created an editor for rapidly designing cinemetics that were used during dialogs and cutscenes.
- Added support for facial animations during dialog cinematics.
- Optimized the user interface and resolved several performance issues that had shipped in the Year 1 product.
- Responisble for streamlining the user interface based on feedback and lessons learned from the Year 1 product.
- Implemented a number of new user interface elements (Chapter Start, Chapter End, Book Item Manifestation Tab, etc)
- Continued to perform maintence on the Year 1 product while developing Year 2.
